When to go to the Maldives?
The climate of the Maldives is tropical with two monsoon seasons. The best season for enjoying the Maldives’ beaches stretches from January to April, during which time you will enjoy an average temperature of 78°F.
The Maldives has a hot and humid, tropical climate. All year round, the temperature is rather stable and lies between 78°F and 93°F. The monsoon marks out the Maldives’ two seasons. From December to March, the monsoon of the north-east, which is still today called the ‘iruvai’, brings the dry season. This monsoon brings more rain in the centre of the archipelago and keeps a low profile in the north, which is protected by Sri Lanka. From May to November, the monsoon from the south-west called ‘hulhangu’ determines the wet season. It brings often intense but short-lasting rainfall with it, and wind which makes the sea rough and choppy. To visit the Maldives, the summer months are to be avoided due to the strong rainfall which lashes the archipelago.
The ideal time to plan one’s trip to the Maldives lies between January and April when the sunshine is at its peak and rain is rare.
