Plan an amazing trip to Venezuela

On the South American coast, to the north of Brazil, Venezuela is a country of inland plains, plateaus, snow covered mountains reaching over 5,000 metres, luxuriant vegetation, virgin forest, and idyllic small islands with fine sandy beaches. Bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, its coastline is particularly rugged and stretches over 1,800 miles.
Venezuela’s untamed nature and spectacular landscapes offer a complete change of scenery. With 40 national parks, ramblers and divers have an embarrassment of choices to pursue their favoured activities.
Start with a visit to Canaima, a breathtakingly beautiful UNESCO world heritage site, where you can see the tallest waterfall in the world, the Salto Angel, and the tepui - table top mountains overlooking the tropical forest. Many animals inhabit the area, including anteaters, giant armadillos, jaguars and pumas as well as numerous species of birds including macaws and toucans.
The Orinico Delta, one of the largest in the world, is also prized for its flora and fauna. It’s a maze of canals and mangroves which can be navigated in dugout canoes, where bountiful nature is peppered with stilt house villages, mainly inhabited by the Waraos people.
About 70 miles from the coast, the Roques Archipelago National Park’s turquoise waters are a paradise for divers. The area’s huge coral reef shelters an incredible number of tropical marine species.
The island holiday resort of Margarita is also sought after for its sandy beaches lined with coconut palms.
There are so many other remarkable and fascinating places of interest in this magnificent and unspoilt country.
