When to go to Cook Islands?

Going on holiday to the Cook Islands is a genuine delight. The particularly favourable climate of the islands, with their heat and endless sunshine, together with continuously warm sea water, guarantees you will enjoy a perfect holiday. Despite this warm, tropical climate, certain months of the year have become known to be more appropriate than others for making the most out of the beautiful beaches or for going scuba diving in the heart of the lagoons.

The hottest temperatures can be found between November and April where they can peak up to 86°F. You can consider this period as being the rain season, with rain being more heavy than the rest of the year. This rain comes mainly at the end of the afternoons which helps lush plants to blossom.
The period running from June to October is the most pleasant as it is drier and cooler than the rain season. Indeed, the heat does fall slightly – moderated by trade winds – even if maximum temperatures never fall below 84°F and minimums below 66°F. The sea temperature stays permanently at 77°F, ideally warm for diving comfortably into the turquoise waters of the lagoons and discovering the beautiful coral reefs. The rain is also less heavy during this time of year.

A genuine tropical paradise, the Cook Islands archipelago enjoys a relatively consistent climate all year round. We do advise you, however, to make the driest months – between June and October – where the heat drops slightly, your preferred choice. This is the most appropriate time for engaging in water sports, going scuba diving, or simply lazing around on the white sand beaches.
