When to go to Egypt?
Given the sheer size of the Egyptian landmass, with a surface area of slightly over a million square kilometres, the country possesses a very varied climate. In the north of Egypt, especially in Alexandria, the climate is mediterranean. Temperatures are tolerable in summer and rain is not uncommon in winter. From Cairo onwards, the climate is quite desert-like. In tourist destinations such as Aswan and Luxor, the summer heat is sometimes unbearable and the thermometer can reach up to more than 104°F between June and September. To travel to the south of Egypt, it is best to opt for the cool season which stretches from November to March. The hot season from May to September on the other hand is ideal for enjoying the beaches on the Red Sea coast.
