Friuli Venezia Giulia

There's certainly no lack of cultural and architectural places of interest in the Italian region of Venice. Be it the Doge's Palace, Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, the Punta della Dogana Museum, the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli or a gondola ride, all are worth seeing during a visit to Venice. Routes and distances maps
Venice is a must-see destination in Europe, not least because it's easily accessible and less than 2 hours away! Once there, the best way of getting around is by boat, water taxi, gondola and vaporetto, which allows easy movement from one part of the city to another. The water taxi is expensive: the fare comprises an € 8.90 pick-up charge and then a charge of € 1.80 per minute on board. The gondola is not commonly used, mainly because of its prohibitive price; expect to pay 80 € for a 40-minute ride. Finally, the Vaporetto is the main mode of transport and is efficient and punctual. A ticket costs about 7 € per person and there are some good package deals available if you plan to use the vaporetto several times during your stay. Please be aware that cycling is forbidden in Venice, so opt for a walking tour of the city instead - much more economical! To travel from Venice to Padua, Trieste or Bolzano, the motorway and rail network are particularly well developed and allow easy transportation. A car will offer you freedom, a luxury much appreciated by tourists, but beware of the price of fuel and motorway tolls which are particularly high.
