When to go to Norway?

Paolo's tips, local guide

Thanks to the warm Gulf Stream currents along the country's coastline, Norway enjoys a temperate climate despite its geographical location. Temperatures and the weather are unsettled, so you may experience significant heat for days 86°F), then wind and rain will see the mercury fall suddenly to 41°F. On average, temperatures range from 33°F to 60°F in the south and 37°F to 55°F in the north of the country, with peaks of 89°F on the hottest days and 104°F during the winter, in the area closest to the Swedish border. While Bergen and the southwestern cities experience heavy rains throughout the year, Alta and the far north are drier than the Sahara. Nevertheless, most of the country remains showery through the year. Additionally, during a trip to Norway, there are two climatic phenomena not to be missed: The midnight sun, witnessed within the Arctic Circle during summer, and the polar night (November to January) during which only snow-white, northern lights and bare twilight illuminate the landscape in certain parts of the country.
