When to go to Saint Barthélemy?
Saint-Barthélemy ,or St Barts to your friends, is a small island where it is a good time to stay virtually all year round. Endowed with a tropical climate, temperatures change very little throughout the year, with maximum temperatures varying from 84°F to 89°F in the month of August.
The island, located in the northern part of the Lesser Antilles arc, has a very pleasant climate, with a sun which shines down on it all year. The climate here is tropical with two seasons; the wet season from May to November and the dry season from December to April. It is worth noting that these seasons are not wholly different from those of the neighbouring islands.
During the wet season, rain occurs more frequently. It generally falls in the form of strong thunderstorms, lasting for a short time only. This does not stop the sun from shining during the day. It is during this time that temperatures are at their highest at around 89°F during the day.
From December to April, it is known as the ‘dry’ season, during which the sun is present and rainfall is rare. Temperatures are close to 84°F during the day and 73°F during the evening. The differences in temperature between the two seasons are therefore only very slight. St Barts undergoes a period with a risk of cyclones between August and October.
You’ll be lucky enough to swim in warm water all year round. The sea temperature varies between 78°F in January to 84°F in August, just enough to cool you down!
The sun shines down on it all year round, so you can plan a holiday to Saint Barthélémy whenever you wish. Try to go in the months between December and April which are the driest months to really take advantage of the gorgeous beaches of this truly idyllic island.
